How To Measure Your Feet
Getting the right size in your Irish dancing shoes isn't always straightforward - especially if your switching between brands or styles (they all fit a bit different!).
If you're not sure what size to go for, measuring your foot can be a really helpful starting point.
We recommend watching this helpful video from Antonio Pacelli, which demonstrates a simple but effective way to get the right measurement.
Here are some top tips to get it right:
- Start by popping a blank piece of A4 paper on the floor, with one of the short edges pushed right up against the wall.
- Pop on the socks or tights you usually wear for dancing, then place your foot on the paper with your heel snug against the wall (it's worth double checking to make sure the paper hasn't shifted!)
- Relax your foot and toes, then mark the paper at the tip of your longest toe. It's easiest & most accurate if someone else does this for you.
- Remove your foot, and use a ruler to measure from the wall edge of the paper to your toe-line - that's your foot length.
- We recommend measuring BOTH feet - it's common for one to be slightly bigger. You generally want to use the larger measurement when checking for size.
- With these measurements, you can use the size chart for the relevant shoe. Keep in mind you may want to adjust slightly based on your dance level and foot shape.
This method is a great starting point, but no sizing guide can guarantee a perfect fit every time. Rest assured that we want to help you find the right shoe for you.
